Kris Wright, Board Member and Treasurer

Kris is a native San Diegan and moved to Carlsbad in 1979 when Carlsbad was a relatively small town of 15,000.  She attended UC San Diego, received her Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and worked as a researcher at the UCSD School of Medicine for over 25 years.

She became involved in her community first as a Cub and Boy Scout leader in Carlsbad for over 15 years and then against a developer who threatened to build a mall at the South Shore Agua Hedionda Lagoon without proper environmental and public input.  After the mall project was defeated, a month later she spoke at the Coastal Commission as a group of 4 who defeated the City of Carlsbad when the city tried to change maps at the lagoon shore to allow a mall anyway.

She has become involved in helping the residents of Carlsbad learn about important issues by co-administering a social media group using her research skills to write informative articles and by speaking at City Council meetings.

Kris is very concerned about the influx of State Housing laws that have changed planned growth in Carlsbad and surrounding cities.   She has become involved with various citizen groups throughout the state working to get an amendment to the California State Constitution to restore local control to all cities and counties.
